Rani in the Mermaid Lagoon

Publisher: Disney/Random House

Category: Fantasy

Ages: 9-12

Poor Rani! It isn’t easy being the only fairy in Pixie Hollow who doesn’t have wings. She doesn’t feel she really belongs with the water-talent fairies anymore. In fact, maybe she doesn’t belong with any fairies at all!

Rani leaves Pixie Hollow and goes to the Mermaid Lagoon. She learns how to breathe underwater. She gets to visit the mermaids’ beautiful castle. The mermaids fix her hair and dress her up.

But Rani doesn’t quite fit in with the mermaids, either. So just where does she belong?

Dear Lisa,
[We] were reading Rani in the Mermaid Lagoon, and we really like it and thought it was more interesting than all the others.  We really liked this one page where she meets the mermaids.  It is in Chapter four.

We went onto your website and saw where we could get the books and maybe you could write some more because they are really good, I only need two more books.

I need all of the Disney Fairy books.

Thank you for writing all of these wonderful books for children to read,
(D.O. and R.O.)

Dear Ms. Papademetriou,

I love reading your books and because of that I choose to do a board game for it. The books and illustrations are fantastic! I really liked the part when Rani got the magical pearl from the friendly sea horse. Rani is a really nice fairy (I wish I could meet her in person and meet you.)

I am 8 years old; I’m a girl who loves to read magic books like yours.
(M.R.)
